Dylan and Ryan eloped at a quaint country inn in the white mountains region of New Hampshire, just next to Jackson Falls. Brides & Weddings recently interviewed the bride to find out more details about their elopement. Here is what she had to share.
Dylan and I met in 2009 through his best friend, we went on a few dates but decided we did not want a relationship at that time.
Two years later in September of 2011 Dylan called me and asked if I was available and if I wanted to hangout. I remember seeing him again for the first time and when I hugged him, I knew I wanted to be with him. He officially asked me to be his girlfriend 10/2/11.
A house, puppy, and many adventures later we got married on 10/2/16. The date of October 2nd has always been sentimental to us, and we got matching roman numeral tattoos of the date a few years ago.
Dylan proposed on a Friday night this past June at one of our favorite old hangout spots. It was a total surprise! He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes of course and then asked if he has asked my dad for permission, he said yes weeks ago! Dylan started laughing and told me I didn't even look at the ring yet, it was true, I completely forgot about it, but it was gorgeous, he did such a great job.
Brides & Weddings: What was your theme? What inspired you to pick that theme?
We have always wanted to elope, but we wanted our family with us too, so we had a small intimate family wedding in Jackson NH with our parents, brothers, my sister in law, and our two best friends.
We had a reception the following weekend with 130 guests in the form of an "I Do BBQ." We spent the night dancing and celebrating with the rest of our family and friends.
We chose to do the ceremony separate from the reception because we wanted to able to have time to focus on each other and enjoy the moments without any stress. Looking back we are so happy with the way we did it.
Brides & Weddings: Describe the dress you chose and the moment you knew it was the one.
I think I tried on 7 dresses in total and ended up picking the first one I put on. It was completely opposite from anything I thought I wanted. I fell in love with my dress from the illusion top to the lace detailing down the back of the dress, it was so comfortable too!
Brides & Weddings: What was your favorite detail?
We were married at the Wentworth, An Elegant Country Inn, the suite we stayed in was gorgeous and even though everyone had their own rooms, everyone stayed with us in our suite most of the time, it also had a 6 person hot tub in the room which was great!
Brides & Weddings: Any advice for future brides & grooms?
Do exactly what you want because it is your day and enjoy it! Do not stress over small details.
