Country Chic Wedding | Real Weddings

This sweet chic Real Brides & Weddings feature will blow you away. Brides & Weddings recently interviewed the bride and she gave us the details about how she met her groom, how he proposed and  her favorite things about the wedding.

Sam and I have always known each other, we met at church when we were just kids. Sam went off to the Marine Corps right after high school while I finished up my senior year. We reconnected on Facebook to simply catch up and see how the other was doing. From that day, we have not stopped talking. Our relationship was long distance for three years while Sam was stationed in California and I was in Nursing school here in Wisconsin. The true test for us was when Sam deployed to Afghanistan. We made it though those tough months and he returned home and got out of the Military. Soon after he moved back to Wisconsin, he took me on a weekend getaway for our anniversary and popped the question inside of a Photo Booth. Of course I said yes and we planned our dream wedding! We have been married for 4 happy months and it has truly been amazing.

Brides & Weddings: What was your theme?

Our theme was kind of a combination of a few styles. We got married in a barn so I wanted to keep some of the style rustic. We had some mason jars, wine barrels, and rustic decorations throughout. The hall we had the reception in was a bit rustic but allowed us to do what we wanted with. We had the best florist in the world who helped bring my vision into reality. We had teacups with flowers in them. Tall, dried, willow tree branches with votives, and succulents... EVERYWHERE.

Brides & Weddings: Describe the dress you chose and the moment you knew it was the one.

Since I dreamt of getting married, I always pictured myself in an ivory, lace, fit and flare dress. Well my dress was the farthest thing from that. We had gone to a few dress boutiques that day and we came to the last shop. I was trying on dress after dress that fit the description of ivory, lace, fit and flare. Well they all started looking the same and I actually started to love ALL of them! So the wonderful lady who was helping me at the boutique says to me, "okay, we need a palate cleanser, these are all looking the same, wait here." So we waited a few minutes and she comes back with a dress kind of crumpled up in her arms....it was GREY! She looked at me and told me just to try it on. I rolled my eyes and stepped into the dress. I walked out of the dressing room without even looking in the mirror because I knew I would be taking it off in one second. WELL, I walk out and everyone gasped and started crying. I turned around and fell in love with a blinged out, frost colored, fitted dress.

Brides & Weddings: What was your favorite detail.

I ABSOLUTELY loved our bouquets. Our florist did an out of this world job and we had SO many compliments on our flowers. I really feel like our flowers were unlike any other wedding flowers I have ever seen.

Brides & Weddings: Describe the first dance.

Our first dance was to the song "Unconditionally" by Katy Perry. That has been our song for a few years now so it was an easy pick when it came to the first dance song. We love the words and after everything is said and done, we are to love each other unconditionally, and we do!

Brides & Weddings: Do you have any advice for other brides?

Enjoy the day and don't stress about the small details. If something doesn't go the way you imagined it, just go with it. You only get to experience this day once in your life, make sure its everything you have ever dreamt of.
