Jeannette and Chase met in the Summer of 2011 while they were both attending school in College Station, Texas. One of Jeannette’s closest friends insisted she meet a few of her guy friends and almost instantly, Jeannette and Chase became great friends. What started out as a friendship turned to much more and they’ve be inseparable ever since. They began a new adventure together when they moved across the state to Lubbock, Texas to attend school at Texas Tech University. Once Chase graduated in December 2014, they began their next adventure in the Rocky Mountains when the moved to Denver, Colorado. After spending a year and a half in Denver, Chase and Jeannette finally headed back to the Lone Star State to be closer to their friends and family! Brides & Weddings recently interviewed the bride to find out details of her wedding.
Chase managed to pull of the surprise of a lifetime when they decided to visit her family in Chicago for New Years Eve in 2014. He arranged for his family to secretly fly in from Houston, sent Jeannette off to get her nails done with her mom and even had a secret photographer to document all that was about to happen! At a swanky wine room in downtown Chicago, Chase got down on one knee and asked Jeannette to be his forever in front of all of their closest family. Jeannette could hardly form any words but managed to say YES through some ugly crying! Everything surpassed Jeannette’s wildest dreams and it was a great way to ring in the New Year and the next chapter in their story!
Brides & Weddings: What was your theme? What inspired you to pick that theme?
Jewel toned, English garden theme. Lots of greenery, jewel toned burgundy, and gold, lots of bud vase with small blooms. we wanted an undone, relaxed look, nothing to polished and put together.
Brides & Weddings: Describe the dress you chose and the moment you knew it was the one.
My dress was a fit and flare style with a fitted lace bodice, accented with Swarovski crystals, and voluminous tiers of tulle and Chic organza layered throughout the skirt. The dress was very much an eye catcher, i almost thought the dress was too loud when i saw it on the hanger. The sample they had at the Maggie Sottero trunk show just happened to be my size, when I put it on it was like the dress was made to fit me. It was the perfect amount of drama on the bottom with an elegant hint at the top. The beaded lace keyhole coverlet gave it the perfect touch to make it a more traditional gown. I knew it was the one when everyone in the salon came over to tell me how great it looked. The balance of drama and elegance really matched my personality.
Brides & Weddings: Describe the first dance.
My husband is a foot and an inch taller than me, so even with 4 inch heels on there was quite a height difference! We intended to take lessons, but never did! We just decided to wing it! I could tell he was nervous so every now and then i would just do my own ballerina twirl around him so he could laugh and get rid of his nervous energy. Everyone loved our song and complimented how perfect it was for us.
Brides & Weddings: Any advice for other brides & grooms?
Don't sweat the small stuff, SERIOUSLY! Everyone is right when they say the day will fly by and something so small will probably go wrong. Just breathe, shake it off and ENJOY your day! Everything will turn out beautiful and no one else will know if there's a hiccup on your big day!
