Picturesque Mountain Top Wedding | Real Weddings

You are going to fall in love with this rustic mountain top wedding feature by True North Photography. Brides & Weddings recently interviewed the bride and here is what she had to say about their relationship, wedding day and some helpful advice for our readers.

It was love at first home run... or something like that. Christine joined several softball teams of which Drew was a member. After figuring out that we played a lot of softball and had a passion for skiing and snowboarding, the rest was history. Since then, every free moment has been full of adventuring around Colorado and beyond and stopping at every local brewery along the way. In April of 2015, Drew planned a romantic ski weekend up in Breckenridge, Colorado and suggested a hike up to the top of one of the mountains. Having the peak to ourselves, Drew dropped to one knee and popped the question amid some of our favorite mountains. After that, we skied down the mountain and enjoyed the rest of the weekend calling all of our friends and family to share the great news.

Brides & Weddings: What was your theme?

Because we spend most of our free time in the mountains, we wanted to have our friends and family join us to celebrate in the mountains. The Lodge at Sunspot lent itself wonderfully to hosting a mountain themed wedding with very minimal decoration needed. We really wanted to showcase the beauty of the nature around us and build our ceremony and reception with outdoorsy accents.

Brides & Weddings: Describe the dress you chose and the moment you knew it was the one.

I chose a beautiful, form-fitting dress named "Valentina" designed by Badgley Mischka and sold by BHLDN. The front of the dress is very simple and elegant with a high, straight neckline, while the back plunges down to a series of floor length ruffles. Until I tried on this dress, I thought I wanted a flowy, whimsical dress with light layers. When the stylist recommended I try this one on, I wasn't too sure about it. But taking her advice, I slipped it on and turned to the mirror and knew it was the one for me. It was comfortable and fit the vibe of our wedding perfectly.

Brides & Weddings: What's your favorite detail from the wedding?

My favorite detail from our wedding was the table names and how the guests were to find their seats. We named each of the tables after our favorite ski runs at Winter Park Resort and each guest received a "lift ticket" with their name and table name. It made for a fun little adventure for each guest from the entrance to the lodge to their seat.

Brides & Weddings: Describe the first dance.

Disclaimer: neither of us are known for our awesome dancing skills and the last time we slow danced was at our respective senior proms. We decided together that it was more important to us to spend our time, effort, and money on other details of the wedding so we approached our first dance by channeling our inner high school selves with a few practice runs a couple of days before the wedding. Despite our lack of prowess on the dance floor, it was a magical moment set to one of our favorite songs "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison.

Brides & Weddings: Any advice for future brides?

There are a few pieces of advice I have for future brides planning their own wedding. Make sure you and your partner plan the wedding for you two and no one else. I know that this can be hard with expectations and opinions from all of your friends and family members, especially if they are helping you pay for the event, but it will mean so much more to you and your partner in the long run if everything about the day is "you." Also, remember to just relax and enjoy, both before and the day of the wedding. Enjoy being engaged and have fun planning your celebration. Try not to stress out about the details - things will fall into place. As for the day of, it will go by so quickly so consciously take moments to sit back and soak everything in. It will be the only time in your life that all of the people you love will be in the same room. It is an incredible feeling that you'll never want to forget.
