It is always a pleasure to publish our clients’ work – especially when it showcases the multicultural nature of Northern Virginia. If you want to honor your Latina heritage – with a twist, read on about this styled shoot directed by Virginia Swopes, owner of Stylish Planning by VFS.
As a native of Argentina, I have always thought about a Latin inspired wedding styled shoot. I wanted to combine colorful, vibrant and bold tones that characterize the Latin style with an elegant setting differing from others shoots with Mariachis. With that in mind I chose Regency at Dominion Valley, a beautiful golf club in Haymarket. I loved this venue the first time that I saw it. Regency offers a little bit of everything including a spacious ballroom with breathtaking balcony views, outdoor and indoor ceremony settings and picturesque areas for capturing memories. The ballroom features bright décor and a modern aesthetic with elegant chandeliers and a gorgeous grand piano.
With my inspiration and venue selection in hand, I started the planning process. Hot pinks, plum, purple and orange were the focal colors in this shoot. I collaborated with Shelley Campbell from Shelley’s Floral Enterprise and she got my ideas instantly. I wanted to incorporate a candelabra into the centerpiece and Shelley came up with a cascading fantasy flower arrangement! The three tier round and romantic wedding cake was decorated with an assortment of pink peonies, orange roses, purple stock and orchids. For the stationery suite, I added robust Spanish tiles to the design and mixed up the color palette.
The stunning Lilian West wedding dress with its detailed lace and embellished belt really won me over. I love the V-neckline, the open back and how the dress follows the natural lines of the body. To complete the look and keep the Latin inspired wedding feeling I added a lace veil and a pair of custom purple earrings. We Latinas like to wear big accessories!
I wanted the bride’s makeup to be dramatic but still elegant and relaxed for a daytime wedding. Lulu Vaca did a great job! And since elegance and femininity were a must, Sabrina incorporated a graceful and beautiful low side braided bun for the bride’s hair. The groom looked his best in a dark gray suit with a plum tie. To add some of the vibrant color to his outfit we added an orange rose boutonniere.
This Latin inspired wedding shoot had everything I was hoping for – color, elegance, and sabor latino – and to that I say perfecto!
